RBI Data Cap blown, Then what?

$

Considering our plan on RBI 240GB and up to a maximum of  five 10GB packs extra. Surely it must be time for RBI broadband to at least port down to slower speeds like *cough* <adsl, or similar, So at least 'something' keeps working... It just stops. ??

Heck, ..I'd gladly pay more.

Haven't even factored in the WC Rugby streaming yet. LOL.

footnote: Glad im not on the standard 120GB.

Best "ultra low usage" mobile prepaid plan in NZ?

$

Hi everyone what is the current best value "ultra low usage" prepaid mobile plan in NZ?

Am looking at total topup $10-20 per annum. With casual rates that won't break the bank if there is occasional TXT and calling. No data requirement for this one.

Vodafone's old plan with 1c TXTs was good until that was killed.

Any advantage to having both SIMs in a dual-SIM phone on the same network?

Currently have both personal and work SIMs with Voda.

Is there any advantage (e.g. battery life) to keeping this, versus moving the personal SIM to another network?

Thanks for any help.

I have a prepay account with 2Degrees that I pay once a year. I would like to port my number to Warehouse Mobile.

Do I need the 2Degrees account to be in credit to port my number, or can I wait until I have used all my credit?

SMS Service for Business

Could anyone recommend a good SMS platform for a small business to send customer SMS messages please? Right now we would send messages through a web portal or whatever client they have but in the future an API interface for our MS Access CRM tool (for want of a better word) could be useful.

Edit - or alternatively an inexpensive GSM Modem and application that we could use a SIM installed in and benefit from our unlimited SMS plan?

Hi

Have been looking to unlock my Samsung S9+ from the Zain network in Kuwait (shows as Enter Network Lock Control Key) and responses I have had from Unlocking web-sites is either they are unable to unlock or the site says the credit card details are incorrect, which they are not.

Any thoughts/assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers

"Potential Fraud" caller display on mobiles

$

Hi,

I've seen a screenshot of a phone showing "Potential Fraud" on the caller display when called from certain numbers.

I'm unsure if this is application driven, or platform (Android/iOS etc).

EDIT - I presume it's something like https://support.apple.com/en-eg/HT207099

My question is, how do numbers become added to this list and, if a business believes they are added incorrectly to such a list, who can they raise this with?

Thanks

Neil

Mobile provider with voicemail web interface?

$

In 2019, is there in NZ a provider of mobile telephony with voicemail accessible via web interface?

That is, say my mobile phone is out of reach of the network. Incoming calls hit voicemail and get recorded. What I want is, instead of having to call the voicemail service, to be able to login to a web interface and see all my voicemail content downloadable.

If none exists, what other options are there? Redirect my NZ mobile number to a VoIP service?

What to do about spoofed spam calls?

I'm on a spam call list and I receive phone calls frequently. Initially it was a +61 Oz number, so it was easy to block. But now they have switched to spoof NZ Mobile numbers.

The number is different every time. When I call back, I get a non-existing phone number error message.

I've contacted my provider, but they say it can only be reported when I'm called 5 times by that number.

Right now I've installed a call blocker that blocks all unknown numbers. It's a risk that I miss important calls, but I'm sick of the spam calls. Is there anything else I can do?

I believe this can be solved technically by the providers, by just not allowing to spoof invalid mobile numbers? Who can I report this too?

Forgive me if this is in the wrong category, it's my first time posting here.

Many of you use the NZ wireless map by mark hansen, and sadly it could stop working after fusion tables gets shut down. If anyone has suggestions for alternatives, please let me know.

Hi All

i am just curious, the mobile network is keen to allow people to share the plan for additional $20 per user.

How come it cost so expensive for each connection?

Will we ever see the mobile network offer a package for a family???

Hi fellow Nerds, I'm new here but grateful for your help in advance :)

I have tried a few products but they're all sending from a shortcode. I really need this to be a normal number that it comes from (either mine or a virtual number)

What I am hoping to achieve is to send txts from an NZ number, (not shortcode) Then I want notifications of responses so that I can re-txt the people an answer to their query.

Any suggestions?

WISPs to service Kumeu

Hi.

We have a customer in Kumeu able to get 2mbps ADSL or 4G 240GB through Spark.

They aren't really able to survive with that, so I said I'd investigate to see if there were any WISP's operating in that area.

Anyone know of any?

Advice needed on wifi options at a location with no internet connection

$

Hi,

I am with SeniorNet in Palmerston North. We are moving from dedicated premises to using rented halls and other venues around PN. Not all of these have an internet connection (or a reliable one) and we need that for presentations, small workshops and one-on-one help sessions, and for admin work. We have successfully used a tethered smartphone, and smartphone hotspot for presentations, but I'm not sure if that solution would work for a class of 6 people learning Gmail (for example). Would a dedicated mobile data/wifi device be a better option? This has to be portable and quick and easy to use - and it needs to work.

Does anybody have some suggestions as to what would work for us, and what provider might have useful options to make this work? (I like some of the data options that 2Degrees offer, is anything else likely to be better)?

Thanks.
